Lucille had her sixth appointment at Sick Kids last week, and once again it was a routine checkup to see how her lip and gums are progressing. This was the first time that Dr. Caro had seen Lucille in over a month. As soon as she took out Lucille's plate she was floored at how much progress they had made and immediately stated that her next appointment she would be receiving her nose stent!!!! Esther and I were THRILLED to hear this news as taping has grown to be tiresome and difficult on Lucille. So, in two weeks we'll head back to Sick Kids and Lucille will have her nose stent fitted and installed. The purpose of the nose stent is to stretch the nostril to allow it to be more easily shaped when they do her surgery on her lip. We were also informed and that eight weeks from that date (roughly), is when Lucille's surgery would be. So we are looking at a surgery date of the first week or so and April , which is VERY exciting for us as a family .
With this next step in the process we know that we are close to the end of the first stage of Lucille's journey, and are very much looking forward to this leg being in the rear view mirror. We may not be feeling that way the night before the surgery, but for now...we're excited. :)
Lucille is smiling like crazy and has started to give brief giggles! It's hard to believe that she'll be three months old in a week.
A delayed Happy 2016 to everyone! We know that 2016 will be a challenging year for us, but we know that there will be far more beautiful moments than difficult ones.
Love to all,
B.
